Barossa Valley

Australia

Only a half hours drive South of Adelaide is one of Australia’s oldest winemaking regions. Englishman George Pitches Manning founded Seaview winery in 1850. The flats of the McLaren Vale are compared often with the Mediterranean climate, warm sunny days with fresh sea breezes to temper high summer heats.

Its proximity to the Mount Lofty Ranges sees the cool gully winds fall down from the hills in the late evening and early morning, chilling the grapes to retain crisp acidity and structure. Long dry summers through to late autumn, means McLaren Vale is considered one of the safest wine growing regions in Australia.

Shottesbrooke

Shottesbrooke is a small, family owned and operated vineyard and winery situated in the eastern pocket of the beautiful and tranquil McLaren Vale wine region. Hamish Maguire is the wine maker and general manager of Shottesbrooke. The soil types on our McLaren Flat vineyard range from sandy loam on the slopes to deep loam on the flats along the creek bed. At McLaren Flat we grow Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Shiraz.

They also source fruit from a vineyard at Myponga, slightly further south on the Fleurieu Peninsula. This was their first vineyard planted in the early 80's. Sauvignon Blanc is the major variety grown on this site, due to the cooler climate that suits this variety. Shottesbrooke produce premium wines using their estate grown fruit. The range currently consists of a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Malbec Blend, Reserve Shiraz and a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
