Barossa Valley

Heathcote - Victoria

Heathcote is located about 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne in Central Victoria. It has been a wine growing region for many decades. The combination of the Cambrian Red Soil deposits and the hot summer climate with cool nights makes it an ideal terrior for full bodied reds. With Shiraz being most grown varietal. The area has limited water resources and there are a number of older dry grown plantings owned by well established wineries that produce wines of great character.

Wild Duck Creek Estate - Heathcote

David ‘Duck’ Anderson, owner and winemaker at Wild Duck Creek Estate build the family business nearly single handed. Starting in 1980 with the first planting and the first wines only followed in 1986 in small quantities. David was familiar for decades with the Heathcote appellation knew the potential of the region and was determined to make a difference. In the early 90’s they had enough volume to start expanding and create a cellar-door facility. In that period the export was starting and the wines were picked up by Robert Parker JR.

Robert Parker really liked them and gave them high ratings, including 99 points for the Duck Muck, a reserve wine, making it instantly a cult wine in the USA. The reviews helped to put the spotlight on the winery and they have kept enjoying the lime light, ever since and not only from Mr. Parker. Also in the domestic market Wild Duck Creek Estate build a name for itself and many restaurants are after their wines. David’s son Liam has joined the winery full time and is working close with his father, so the ‘Duck’ style is passed on the next generation. After a restructuring of the distribution channel, the old friendship between David and Wine Directions resulted in the unique opportunity for us to import the wines directly into Singapore. Wine Directions will feature the full range of wines produced by the estate with a few exceptions due extreme small production.
