Denmark is one of the major wine producing areas in the Great Southern, a region located at the Southwest tip of Australia, about 3 hours drive from Margaret River. With its location near the Southern Ocean it has a Mediterranean climate with cold and moist winters and warm dry summers. Soils vary between rich and fertile karri loams and stonier pea gravel, creating unique micro-climates in the steep hills and valleys. Denmark is well known for Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Moombaki Winery
Small Gully

Moombaki, is located South West of the township of Denmark, Western Australia. It is a small, family run winery committed to making distinctive hand-crafted wines. They are renowned for producing wines that consistently achieve high-awards and reviews, and their ecological approach to the vineyard and protected wetlands. They put in significant mixed tree plantings to increase wildlife habitats. It is against this background that they chose Moombaki as their vineyard name: a local Aboriginal word meaning ‘where the river meets the sky’ All the fruit is hand-picked from low-yielding estate grown vines and then handed over to their award winning winemaker James Kellie from Harewood Estate.
