What has WineDirections been up to lately:









Jan Peter Balkenende, former Dutch MP for 13 years, dropped by and left with a beautiful Aussie drop.

Jeremy Oliver conducted a Master Class on the Western Australian wines and used the Wignalls wines to illustrate some of the ‘Great Southern’ wine styles.

Tarrawarra Estate winemaker Clare Halloran came to Singapore to participate at the Burghound Pinot Noir event. A great opportunity to organize a wine dinner at Boomarang and we were proud to launch the J-Block Shiraz in Singapore! What a wine!

We were honoured to welcome James Halliday, a good friend of  Tarrawarra Estate, to our booth at the Burghound Pinot Noir event. A great opportunity to rub shoulders and take a picture, a very interesting character!

Arjen was invited by the Great Southern Developemnet Commission for wine buying trip to the Great Southern. Before moving down south he was invited to participate in the yearly Margaret River vs Great Southern Cabernet Sauvignon ‘taste off’. An unique and exiting opportunity to participate and taste these great wines. Here is Arjen posing with the panel of experts at the tasting.

During the ‘Great Southern’ trip Arjen dropped by at Wignalls in Albany and went into the winery with Rob Wignalls, wine maker and owner. It is great to spend time with the wine maker between the vines, you learn so much.

Arjen with Martin Cooper of Xabregas in the winery, looking at barrel samples. It is great to meet with passionate wine makers and look with them at wines in the barrel stages. It shows clearly the style and potential to expect after it is bottled and released.

At the last night of our trip, we were invited to The great Southern Long Table wine makers dinner at the Hyatt Perth. Besides seeing some awesome wines, we had the pleasure to meet Peter Forrestal, wine writer and specialist in Western Australian wines, great company!

Wine Event with a view, the festive season wine fair/tasting at the board room of Macquarie Singapore. What a life, enjoying great wines with a beautiful view, it doesn’t get much better.

Wine Directions participated in the Christmas Fair organized by and in the Red Dot Gallery, specialist in Australian Aboriginal art. Besides a pretty picture, it was a great success!

Wine Directions is also active on the corporate front, here we conduct a wine tasting/pouring at a EIC gathering in April 2010.
Wine Directions participated at the World Gourmet Summit – Grandeur of the Wines event and Jeremy Oliver, established Australian Wine Writer and friend dropped by for a glass of wine!
Wine Directions participated for the first time at the Food Hotel Asia, a trade fair for the F&B industry. Wine Directions participated at the the stand of Beemster Cheese, the cooperation was a great success, as Cheese & Wine is, as we all know, a happy marriage.

In November 09, Arjen Blom conducted a wine talk to 55 members of the Association of Dutch Businessmen in Singapore.

Visiting Wine Makers
We had the pleasure to welcome Peter Bentley of Pikes Winery from Clare Valley SA. He was a star at a very successful wine dinner at Table 66 at Tras Street 66. from left to right: Arjen, Peter, Vincent, Taufiq and Celine.

Stephen Black visited Singapore in June and was a busy man. Here he hosted an private corporate wine dinner, cooked by a dedicated kitchen team in an exclusive venue for the client. Stephen Black also hosted a wine tasting & wine talk at Hyde on Boat Quay. The guests enjoyed 6 Small Gully wines accompanied by Beemster Gourmet Cheese from Holland and a selection of cold cuts. A very special evening!
